Hotels near San Antonio Convention Center for smoother convention days

Directly across Market Street from the convention center entrance, with 17,500 square feet of event space and a terrace overlooking the River Walk for evening receptions. Two pools, indoor and outdoor, handle the recovery side of a packed convention schedule while the lobby bar doubles as an after-hours meeting point.

The only hotel physically surrounded by the convention center campus, which eliminates the outdoor walk entirely during a multi-day event. 115,000 square feet of meeting space, a rooftop pool, and on-site dining make the 1,003-room property a self-contained convention base.

Walk through the Shops at Rivercenter from the lobby and reach the convention center in five minutes without stepping outside. 42 meeting rooms and 68,000 square feet of event space position this 1,001-room property as the primary overflow venue for large HBGCC conventions.

For the convention attendee watching the per diem, complimentary hot breakfast and free Wi-Fi close the gap between a 3-star rate and a 4-star experience. A 4,600-square-foot ballroom handles team dinners, and the property sits two blocks from the convention center.

A 74-room boutique property scoring 9.0 across 918 reviews, the kind of consistency that larger convention hotels rarely match at this distance. The smaller scale means faster check-in and quieter hallways, with a bar that functions as a conversation space rather than a convention overflow lounge.

By day three of a five-day convention, the full kitchen in every suite starts paying for itself: stovetop, full-sized refrigerator, and complimentary daily breakfast offset the cost of eating out every meal. Highest-rated property on this list at 9.3, located in the revitalizing St. Paul Square district.

Every room has a private balcony overlooking either the River Walk or the city, a detail that makes evening downtime between convention days feel earned. Durty Nelly's Irish Pub and Fiume Pizzeria give you two distinct on-site dining options without fighting for a River Walk reservation.

Luxury without the convention-hotel formula: a full-service spa, complimentary evening reception, and rooms designed around espresso makers and separate sitting areas rather than generic desk-and-TV layouts. Dean's Steak & Seafood handles client dinners on-site without the uncertainty of a River Walk reservation during event weeks.

When the agenda runs from breakfast meetings through after-hours networking, the on-site spa with massage and body treatments resets the day without leaving the property. Landscaped grounds and an outdoor pool create a pace distinct from the convention-scale hotels two blocks north.
