ThoughtSpot, the leading agentic analytics platform company, has empowered hundreds of organizations to make data-driven decisions with AI. However, the rapidly growing company and its 900-plus global employees needed better insights — and more modern tools — to manage and scale its travel program. ThoughtSpot did just that with Navan — driving savings, improving visibility, and delivering a seamless employee experience.

Before Navan

Like many fast-growing startups, ThoughtSpot initially relied on ad hoc systems for employee travel. Employees booked trips through Orbitz, Expedia, or personal travel agents. Without a company-supported process, employees lacked a consistent experience, and finance teams struggled with fragmented data and a lack of centralized billing. The absence of a single system made it difficult to track spend or enforce policy. “It was pretty chaotic,” said Brad Roberts, chief financial officer at ThoughtSpot. “Employees didn’t have a travel system that supported them, and from the finance side, we had no source of truth.”

Why Navan

ThoughtSpot chose Navan because it brought a modern, consumer-friendly experience to travelers while giving finance the control and visibility it needed. Instead of juggling disparate systems, Navan provided a single platform where employees could easily book travel, while finance could manage spend in real-time. “It’s rare to find a partner that’s both collaborative and aligned with your business goals,” said Roberts, “but that’s exactly what we found in Navan.”

With Navan’s advanced analytics, I can drill into travel spend by department, purpose, or region in seconds. That level of insight was impossible before, and it’s been transformative for how we manage costs and forecast spend.

Results with Navan

As ThoughtSpot scaled its business over the past nine years, Navan has delivered a measurable impact. ThoughtSpot estimates last year alone, they saved about $50,000 in gross flight costs, thanks to improved airline options. Employees booked more than 2,700 flights through Navan, and the finance team gained real-time visibility into spend, enabling team members to proactively manage out-of-policy bookings before they hit the books.

The partnership has also improved compliance and delivered significant savings on hotels and flights — and employees are highly satisfied with the Navan experience. ThoughtSpot maintains an NPS score of +54 for Navan usage, with the majority of employees booking through the mobile platform. Travelers frequently share positive stories about being able to rebook quickly during disruptions, and finance teams now have customizable dashboards and advanced analytics to understand spend at a granular level — by department, purpose, or even specific routes.

Roberts noted that the integration of Navan’s robust analytics platform, powered by ThoughtSpot’s own technology, has unlocked deeper insights into travel spend. “With Navan’s advanced analytics, I can drill into travel spend by department, purpose, or region in seconds,” said Roberts. “That level of insight was impossible before, and it’s been transformative for how we manage costs and forecast spend.”

Looking Ahead

After nine years as a Navan customer, ThoughtSpot sees Navan as a long-term strategic partner. By improving flexibility,  visibility, and control across travel and expense, Navan has gained the trust of ThoughtSpot’s employees while helping the company scale efficiently.
