While Navan employees are committed to serving their customers and contributing to their teams, there is also a strong desire to contribute to communities outside of business.
The Navan People team that works from HQ in Palo Alto, California, recently spent an afternoon giving back to the local community. Navan partnered with the non-profit organization Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, which works towards a hunger-free community by distributing food to families across Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. The impact of this effort has only increased since the start of COVID-19.
The team met at one of Second Harvest’s warehouse facilities where they processed, sorted, and boxed 10,500 pounds of produce that will be donated to 450 families in need.
“We’re a team that operates in service to people at Navan, and we also care deeply about the individuals outside the walls of our business so we wanted to spend some time around the holidays giving back to the community around us,” explains Allison Slater, Navan's Director of People Development.
“Silicon Valley is a place of enormous disparity in that there is great wealth but also great poverty and food insecurity—a crisis which was only deepened by the pandemic. We wanted to pay it forward by helping get food into the hands of those who need it most. It turned out to be such a fantastic way to spend time together outside of the office or a typical happy hour. It brought our team together and made an impact.”
A core Navan value of “One Diverse Team” expands beyond Navan teammates and outside of office doors into the community. Navan teams around the world regularly volunteer with nonprofit organizations and plans to bring more structure around volunteer opportunities in 2022 through the Navan Employee Resource Group ‘TakeActions.’
Stay tuned as we share more about the work our employees are doing outside the office walls to build stronger communities.
